THE PROBLEM:

Unfortunately, education is not following what research is saying to do. According to the National Institute of Health Reading Scores (NICHD), 69% of 12th graders did not reach reading proficiency grade level.

CURRICULUM

65% of students learn to read through multisensory methods that delivers instruction explicitly, directly, sequentially, systematically, cumulatively, and comprehensively.

The National Reading Panel (NRD), 2000, assessed the effectiveness of various approaches for teaching children to read. They concluded that instruction must include 5 essential components of reading:

  1. phonemic awareness

  2. phonics

  3. vocabulary development

  4. reading fluency, including oral reading skills

  5. reading comprehension strategies.
